Washington County Small Business Relief Fund Update

Washington County, VA – Washington County is pleased to announce the progress of its Small Business Relief Fund. In the first week of funding, 16 applications were reviewed, resulting in $88,000 awarded directly to local businesses.

Today, the relief committee reviewed 43 new applications and approved another $233,750 in funding, with checks set to be distributed next week to eligible recipients.

However, the county also identified seven fraudulent applications, with potential identity theft involved. Washington County emphasizes that it will not tolerate fraudulent attempts to access relief funds, especially during these critical disaster recovery efforts. All fraudulent applications have been referred to state and local law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution.
