PAWS Campaign Shelter Donations 2010

The Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office C.C. Porter Animal Shelter is the recipient of dog and cat food, bleach, kitty litter and animal toys as the result the Washington County Schools’ annual PAWS (Providing Animals With Support) Campaign.

Each year the school system donates food, kitty litter, bleach, animal toys and other items to help feed and care for the animals at the shelter.  Under the guidance of Director Janet Lester, this year’s program was a huge success with over 1,000 pounds of food and other items being donated.  Schools that participated in this year’s event include Abingdon, High Point, Valley Institute, Rhea Valley, Meadowview and Greendale Elementary Schools.  (Watauga Elementary School made a donation in December.)

“During these tough economic times, our shelter is extremely grateful for the generous donations provided by the students, parents and faculty of these respective schools,” said Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman.
